Worldwide, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women. Identifying the disease early is a critical component to a good prognosis, which is the reason why early detection is so important for cervical cancer. Despite the success of current screening protocols in overall reducing the cervical cancer associated mortality rates there is still an unacceptable high rate of false negatives and false positives results. mtm's CINtec® technology, based on the detection of a specific cellular biomarker, offers the potential for highly specific and accurate diagnosis of even symptomless early stage cervical cancer. mtm is currently marketing CINtec® Histology and CINtec® Cytology as adjunctive tools for the early detection of cervical cancer . In addition, mtm is developing a further advanced version to detect p16INK4a, the Cervatec® ELISA Assay. mtm operates on a global basis with headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany, and subsidiaries in the United States, France, Italy and Spain. mtm dedicates all its work and efforts to improving women's health.
