mtm laboratories extends its Supervisory Board.

Heidelberg, Germany, March 22, 2004 - mtm laboratories AG, a privately held biotech company specialised in developing products for early detection of cancer, today announced the extension of its Supervisory Board, currently comprising Prof. Dr. Ulrich Abshagen (Heidelberg Innovation, Chairman of mtm's Board), Prof. Dr. Magnus von Knebel Doeberitz (University of Heidelberg, co-founder of mtm) and Dr. Gerald Moeller (HBM Bioventures Germany, Vice-Chairman of mtm's Board). The new board members are additional renowned industry experts and representatives of investors from the second financing round:

Erich Platzer, M.D., B.Sc., Investment Advisor for HBM Partners AG (Zurich) and former Head of the Roche Oncology Strategic Marketing Department, holds a medical degree from the University of Erlangen, Germany, where he later had been associate professor of medicine prior to joining the industry. Dr. Platzer is a board-certified haematologist and medical oncologist. He is chairman of the Munich-based biotech company Ingenium Pharmaceuticals, and board member of Cell Therapeutics, Seattle.

Rainer Strohmenger, M.D., M.Sc., Partner at Wellington Partners (Munich) holds a medical degree as well as a Master's in economics, both from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. He is a member of the Supervisory Boards of immatics (Tuebingen) and Dianoema (Bologna). Dr. Strohmenger focuses on investments in the life sciences, and co-managed and successfully exited the firm's investments in Actelion, Grandis, Perfect Vision and Wavelight.

Werner Schaefer, Ph.D. has nearly 30 years of management experience in Germany and the US in the field of in vitro diagnostics, including general management, marketing and R&D, gained through positions such as member of the Management Board of Roche Diagnostics GmbH and Director of Area Operations and Scientific Development at Abbott GmbH Diagnostics. Dr. Schaefer now acts as a consultant to the biotech and diagnostics industry and is a member of various boards (BRAHMS AG, vasopharm Biotech GmbH, Teraklin AG and KREATECH Biotechnology).

Peter Pack, CEO of mtm laboratories, stated: "The new Supervisory Board members represent a substantial gain for us of additional hands-on experience in fields such as finance and entrepreneurship, as well as for developing and marketing diagnostic products.
